During the 19th and early 20th centuries, basic cooking ingredients like flour and salt were traded in large sacks made of 100% cotton. The finest cotton was chosen for its durability and heavily knitted using a diagonal method, making it easier for the fabric to dry. It didn’t take long for people to realize that this fabulous fabric could be used for home textiles. Our fine flour sack towels can be used for all kitchen duties, plus polishing wine glasses or even wrapping a special gift. Exclusively drawn for Brook Isle by artist Alex Norman.
